Lately, I feel like I’ve been a creative rut when it comes to doing crafts with Isabelle. When we took her out of daycare in February, we did many different crafts. Lots of crafts with paint, crayons, markers and glue. But now, she’s going through a phase where she doesn’t want to get her hands dirty.
I’ve heard of moon sand before, but never tried it. I know she’s not a fan of getting her hands dirty, but decided to give it a go anyway. She LOVED it. Here’s the recipe I used to make DIY Moon Sand.
DIY Moon Sand (from Delia Creates)
- 8 cups of flour
- 1 cup of baby oil
Mix and you’re done.
It was fun. She played for a good 40 minutes by herself with cars, snowmobiles, a shovel and cookie cutters. It didn’t take much to keep her busy.
It is a little dirty, but we managed to contain most of it by putting the moon sand in a large under the bed storage bin.
Have you made DIY Moon Sand before? What did you use to make it?
