New Years Eve Destinations

It’s only October 5 and I’m already starting to think about what to do for New Years Eve (NYE).  I really like NYE.  It’s really just another opportunity to hang out with the people you love, drink champagne and talk about memories from the past year. But honestly, any reason to drink champagne is a good one in my books.

Last year, I didn’t get to spend NYE with my husband. We had made last-minute plans to go to a party and he got sick and went home. Boo. This year, I would really like it if we spent it together. Not sure what we’ll do yet, whatever it is, it will be together.

I’ve started to create a list of places that I’ve thought we could go to. So far, we haven’t come close to a decision on what we’ve liked to do.

Type of places we’ve had in mind:

  • Cottage
  • Hotel
  • Resort

Locations:

  • Ottawa and surrounding area
  • Rural Ontario
  • Muskoka and surrounding area
  • Kingston
  • Open to other ideas

Website’s I’ve used so far:

I’m not coming up with much. I don’t want to spend a fortune, but looking for something nice, fun and something that if we had another couple of friends that wanted to join us it would be easy to add them to the cottage/hotel/resort…

Do you have any suggestions? Is there somewhere that you could recommend that we take a look at?

Let me know!

Gifts ideas for a 7-year-old girl

It may be Monday, but I’ve already got the weekend on my mind. Next Saturday, I will be celebrating a Frozen-loving, adventurous, imaginative, crafty friend’s daughter 7th birthday! Now, I’m no gift expert, so I’m looking at you for help. What do I give a 7-year-old for her birthday? Here are some ideas I’ve been given so far (let me know if they are good or bad):

Another suggestion I was given are books. Why kind of books does a 7-year-old like to read?

Let me know folks!

Lotto Max this weekend is worth $50 million dollars

This week’s Lotto Max draw is worth $50 million dollars. What would you do if you won $50 million?

I honestly have no idea what I would do. I would like to think that I would travel a lot; maybe start a new business, pay off my mortgage, do more traveling… but really I have no idea!

To help me think of ideas, I went on Yahoo! Answers for help. Here are some ideas from users from Yahoo! Answers:

  • Open an amusement park, but make it mostly with big rollercoasters and they wouldn’t be 2 minute rides, they would be like 5, so you know the wait in line will be worth it.
  • Build a city of penis shaped structures
  • Buy a Ferrari (the best type)
  • Donate to charities helping countries that suffer and I would help them get back on their feet
  • Help out local homeless people (about 20 of them)
  • Buy a nice home on a beach
  • Buy a nice house in a nice town
  • Hire someone very patient and a good teacher to help me do all the things I can’t do, but want to on my computer right now
  • Buy all good nice stuff
  • Buy jet ski, those things look, wow, so much fun or if I was that rich I might just rent one when I wanted one, let someone else look after it and cart it about
  • Buy a solid lump of best quality gold the size of a house brick just to look at
  • Go on Richard Branson’s spaceship
  • Visit Mars on the condition I could come back down again, not stay there till I die
  • Go down and see the Titanic
  • Vegas baby, Vegas

What would you do if you won the $50 million?

Review of LAVISHY Wallets (from Lapeetz.com)

Pssst.. There’s a new Ottawa-based online store that just opened up and I need to tell you about it! It’s called Lapeetz. It’s an online store that mostly sells good quality and ethically made products, such as LAVISHY wallets, Dirkje baby wear and bohemian style purses and kid sweaters. You’ve got to have a look.

Lapeetz - Lavishy Wallets

The owner of Lapeetz was kind enough to let me try out a LAVISHY wallet so I could review it here. If you’re not familiar with LAVISHY wallets, LAVISHY is a Toronto based Canadian fashion accessory and design company. The company was founded in 2001. Since then, they have grown into this fabulous company that sells good quality animal-friendly vegan products (like these wallets).

Blue Bird Wallet

The wallet that I’ve been using for the past week is the stylish, faux leather, small blue bird appliqué wallet. I just love it. It makes me smile every time I pull it out of my purse. It fits everything that I would want to put in my wallet (cards, money, coupons, more money). It’s very functional and just the right size to throw into any purse (or diaper bag).

The LAVISHY wallets that Lapeetz is selling are very affordable:

$24.99 for the larger size

$19.99 for the smaller size

$9.99 for the coin purse

In addition to selling wallets, he is also selling LAVISHY luggage tags, coin purses and passport holders.

Have I convinced you on how cute these wallets are yet? Great! Do you want one? Yup! The owner of Lapeetz was kind enough to give me one of these fabulous wallets to giveaway to one lucky reader. We’re giving away the large peacock wallet. I love this one! Not only are peacocks in, the embroidery on this wallet is beautiful. Its thin design is great to fit in any size purse. It would also make a great birthday or Christmas gift for someone you love!

Peacock Wallet

This wallet features:

  • A funky embroidered peacock
  • 1 photo ID slot
  • 12 card slots
  • 2 sections for bills and recipts
  • 1 zipper closure for your change
  • Magnetic clasp

Please comment below and let me know what product you would like to receive for Christmas off the Lapeetz website to be entered into the giveaway. Giveaway is to open to all Canadian residents. Draw will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2014. All entries must be in by midnight on Friday, August 22 at 11:59pm. You will be contact by email if you win.

Not interested in entering the giveaway, but still interested in purchasing one of these products?

You can find Lapeeze’s products in-store at:

BUT if you visit Lapeetz online store and use the code: JENNYWEARSGLASSES You will get 20% off your entire order (coupon code is good until October 31, 2014).

Have any questions about the wallets or the Lapeetz, you can contact the owner here.

** I just wanted to give a BIG THANK YOU to Lapeetz for providing the above product to review, as well as giving me one LAVISHY wallet to giveaway to a lucky reader. The opinions shared are my own and are honest.

“Enter for a chance to win 1 of 3 gift cards”

Survey’s on your receipt are kind of a joke aren’t they? Like really, who “wins” these things? A chance to win 1 of 3 $1000 gift card basically means that you won’t get anything for completing this survey, but please fill it out anyway.

What I like are receipts with coupons on them. Here are two restaurants in Ottawa that I know of that have something awesome written at the end of the small piece of paper.

Milestones: Complete the survey at the bottom and receive a free appetizer with any meal.

Barley Mow (Kanata): 2 for 1 breakfast on Saturdays (no expiry date).

Do you know of any restaurants that have specials at the bottom of them?
