Sending a Child to Daycare – Things to Provide

Daycare Kit

On Friday, it will be the first day that my daughter attends daycare (yikes!!!). Today, I’m busy putting together somethings to provide my daycare provider and thought it might be helpful to share with you all the items that I will be sending with her.

Edit (August 1):

  • Indoor shoes (Joe Fresh)
  • Water shoes (Joe Fresh)
  • Waterbottle (Skip*Hop)

I have also labeled her shoes and jacket using Mabels Labels (those labels are pretty amazing eh?).

For more experienced moms, am I missing anything? Please let me know.

Frugal Living: Ottawa Consignment Stores

Today is the first day that I am trying to sell some of my clothing via consignment. I’ve always been curious about doing this, but never got around to trying it. Most consignment stores in Ottawa give you 40% of the selling price. The other 60% go to the retailer, which is fair, since they have to staff, pay rent, make a living.. you know what I mean.

In case anyone was thinking about trying this too, here is a list of Ottawa Consignments stores.

Act II Fashions – 471 Hazeldean Road – Website

AMHStyle Ottawa Consignment Store – 1440 Wellington St. West – Website

Bella – 39 Robertson Road – Website

Clothes Encounters of a Second Time – 67 Beechwood Ave. – Website

The Clothes Secret – 1136 Bank St – Website

Finders Keepers – 2 Ullswater Drive – Website

Milo Mode Women’s Consignment Boutique – 2901 Bank St. – Website

My Sisters Closet Consignment Fashion – 1112 March Road – Website (I used them)

Rikochet Resale – 255 Richmond Rd. – Website

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I have been working really hard to come up with a simple, to the point to-do list. I think I’ve made one, but I need your help. It’s done, but it’s not pretty. Can anyone in the blog world help me make it beautiful?

Here is the Google Drive link to the Daily Checklist (July 2014).

You’re welome to use this checklist for your own usage, but if you’re able to improve it in any way, please show me.

McDonald’s Birthday Party Review (with VLOG)

On Sunday, we celebrated my daughter’s 1st birthday at McDonald’s. Remember going to a McDonald’s birthday parties in 80s? It was pure awesomeness. At our party, we had a little get together with friends and family at the McDonald’s off Moodie Drive. We chose this McDonald’s location because they host birthday parties, have a Playplace for the kids to play in and it’s close to the highway.

I have nothing but good things to say about my experience.

After watching the video below on YouTube titled “McDonald’s Birthday Party Semi Review,” (posted April 6, 2014) I have to admit, I was a little concerned about what I would be paying for. After my experience on Sunday, I really feel like I need to make my own YouTube video to speak about my experience having a McDonald’s birthday party.

Below you will see pictures of the decorations on the tables, including the signage that reserved our section from 11-2pm. Loot bag toys and McDonald’s birthday party placemats for the kids.

As mentioned in the video, I would have her party again at this McDonald’s location. They did an excellent job and I was very happy with our experience. If you have any questions about hosting a McDonald’s birthday party in Ottawa, please feel free to contact me anytime.

Video Blog Posts

How do people feel about video blog posts? Is it weird? Do you want to see the person behind the blog? I’m thinking about making one about a recent experience I had. What do you think? Should I do it?

Let me know! Maybe I’ll make one later today!

Happy Birthday!

Here are some wonderful Happy Birthday songs I found on YouTube for kids (that are under 30 seconds long):

Top 3 (Free) Blogging Checklists

Speaking of to-do lists… I’ve also been looking at blogging checklists as well. I wanted to find something that realistic for me to complete on a daily basis and includes all the social media channels that I want participate in. Below are my Top 3 (free) Printable Blogging Checklists:

1. The SITS Girls – Daily Blog Checklist

I love this checklist.  It’s pretty simple, but a bit wordy (imo). Since I only participate in Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest, the Facebook and Google + sections don’t do much for me. I do like the gentle reminders at the bottom of the page. I always find it helpful to write down a few more blog post ideas after writing a post.

2. Amuse your bouche – Daily blogging checklist

Same comment as above about not using Facebook, Google +. I have no idea what StumbleUpon is… is that something worth looking into? Is it new? I do like that it added a checklist for things to do on Pinterest. The wording is simple and to the point. I like it!

3. Smart School House – Make Money Blogging

This blogging checklist is so pretty! It’s very visually appealing. My only complaint is, there isn’t enough “to-do’s” in it. It’s very basic, but very very pretty (did I say that already?).

*sigh* I still haven’t found the one. I’ll try and work on something this weekend and show you what I come up with. It’s not going to be pretty, but I think it might be functional. If anyone knows how to jazz it up, please let me know! I would love some help.

My Top 3 (Free) To-Do List Templates

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been debating between buying a planner/agenda or DIY’ing one. I still haven’t decided what I’m going to do. I’m leaning more towards the DIY route.

While doing my research for the perfect to-do list template, I came across 3 that really caught my eye. Below you will find my top 3 (free) printable to-do list templates that I found on the Internet.

1.  That’s What {Che} Said – Free Printable Daily To Do List

What I love about this template is the hydrate section, the for me section and fitness. These are often sections that aren’t normally included in a basic to-do list, but as important to keep your mind and body healthy too.

2.  Zlilch.com – Free work to-do list

I love the simplicity of this todo list. It’s very clean looking. The 10 minute task section is awesome. It great to have a section of easy things that you can check off your list quickly. This to-do list comes in two different colours on their website.

3. Laura Likes Design – To-Do List (Free Printable)

If I was working from home (I would LOOOVE to one day be a full-time blogger), I would be all over this to-do list. I love the chores section, meals (good reminder to eat) and the be active section. I think it looks very clean and simple. Very easy to use.

As much as I love all these templates, they don’t quite meet my needs. I need something that has a section for little bit of work, a little bit of blog and a whole lotta of water on it. I might try and slap something together and see if it works. I’ll post my progress here on the blog so you can give me your input too.
